Ingredients

  • 1 1/2c Teja black manh whole
  • 2tbsp Butter
  • 2 Soft tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 Medium onion, chopped
  • 2 Whole green chillies, chopped
  • 1/4tsp Teja ginger powder

INSTRUCTIONS

Clean, wash and soak the black manh whole for 1-2 hours. In a heavy pot, heat the butter and saute onions, chillies, garlic and fresh ginger until golden brown. Add the blended dry spices, chopped tomatoes, drained black manh and add water to twice the depth of the daal mixture. Simmer until the daal is thick and the legumes are tender and start to burst (approx. 3/4 hrs), adding water as necessary to end up with a consistency of medium-thick pea soup. Serve piping hot with chapati, rice, whole wheat or corn bread and a slice of lemon.
